The other day my sister asked me how many books I've read from the list of 50 books to read before you die. I know this list - I mean I have the metal bookmark, hello! So, I was pretty confident about my answer and then I didn't! I have read only two books from this list, not even the whole Harry Potter series (just only three of them) and Anne Frank's diary when I was at school (I can't remember any details, so, can we count it as read? No.)
The two whole books I've read as an adult from this list are:
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
A book I absolutely loved (the movie also, even though it's too long I didn't get bored at all). I am so in love with everything Japan related so no surprise I loved this one (although, it has some cruelty and bad drama)
Life of Pi by Yann Martel

I don't know what to say about this book. While I was reading it, I was talking non stop to everyone about this book. It was magical! It has some pictures I can't get out of my mind and then...it got to an end and I realised there was no magic, no beautiful pictures, it was just cruel. I was thinking about this book for days and still I can't decide if I liked it (meaning enjoy it!) or not, I still don't know. However, it shows how strong we are and how stronger we can be to survive. Also, the movie was exactly the same, with the same feelings, magical, beautiful and then Boom! it's a harsh world, welcome back!
And now the challenge! As 50 books are like a year of reading to me (I'm a slow reader I need a week for a book, can't help it) and I can't commit with this list for a year, I will read one from the list every two other books I read. Starting with Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice which I started yesterday and until now I really enjoy it.

| I'm reading the Greek edition, which is similar with Penguin's ones with a velvety cover. |
Have you read any of them? Which one will be your next read and which one should be mine? Any recommendation will be appreciated :)
